Instagram: 5 tips for blogging newbies

This is the third part in these series. I’ve written before about Pinterest and Goodreads . But since I think Instagram can be a fun social media platform when you’re a blogger. It’s great to post some fun photos connected to your blog or just some fun pics that you like to share with your followers. Since I haven’t used Instagram before, I had to go through some tutorials and the data from the help center from Instagram to get to know this social media platform. Recently, I’ve placed my first photos on Instagram, so I’m making progress. Let’s see what I’ve learned so far. ^_^ 1.        Follow people in your niche Try to follow interesting people within your niche and interact with them, when they post something you like. If you're into books, follow lots of bookstagrammers or when you like fashion follow famous fashionistas. Try to follow reachable influencers too, as you’ll probably will get more reactions from other followers when you react to a...

Goodreads – 5 Tips for blogging newbies

Image
Goodreads is a fun social media website to track the books you’ve read and want to read. So a good tool for bloggers who track their reading and want to share it with their audience. These are 5 tips I’ve found that helped me or that definitely sounded interesting. 1.        Personalize Make your profile something to come back to. So add some information about yourself that you aren’t uncomfortable about to share with other people. You can add your blog and a picture if you want. A mini guide below to get to the settings on Goodreads.   2.        Widget Goodreads provides some fun widgets you can embed in your blog. There’s a couple of types that share your bookshelves, favorite quotes or your reading challenge. You can also find in your account settings, but another tab.(See Photo) You can copy the HTML into your homepage or wherever you want it placed on your website.   3.     ...

Pinterest: 5 Tips for blogging newbies.

Image
Post your blog posts on Pinterest You can create a board with different subjects related to your blog posts. Keeping it organized helps possible readers to find posts interesting to them. Then pin articles from your website. You need a good image to be able to make a pin. Add a good title with keywords. For instance, for this blogpost I used the title: 'Pinterest: 5 Tips for blogging newbies.' I first placed the main subject and then I specify what it's about. Don’t make it too long. It might rank you higher in Google search in a short period, but it’ll hurt your blog in the long run. Choose quality over quantity. As reading ridiculously long and messy titles might not be so pleasant for your readers. A mini guide in pictures: Adding a board Adding a pin Then you'll get this image 2.         Create other related boards. Create a board with pins related to your blog, but with pins from other users and bloggers. Don’t just pin your own blog p...

Learning how to bake cookies challenge: From scratch vegan

Image
This month I’ve been trying to learn how to bake cookies, with the emphasis on ‘trying’. I won’t consider this challenge as a success and I’ve marked it as failed on my day zero project account. I’ve tried different kinds and the only ones that worked were the very lazy cookies. You can read about them here . But I can't really count those. It was a ‘for dummies’ exercise with a ready to use dough from the supermarket. With every challenge, the dough was ok and tasted fine. But then when I bake them they turn out flat/hard and now with the last ones it was just molten cookie dough and chocolate. With the last one I think the main problem was that there was nothing in the recipe to bind the dough, so I didn’t get anything solid in the end. With the other recipes it was the egg that binds the dough, but I can’t use that in a vegan recipe. I’ve searched through several vegan recipes and I’ve tried two different recipes in total. I’m not sure if I’m going to share the links to th...

Learning how to bake cookies challenge: From scratch

Image
Yet another part of the cookie challenge. According to my husband, it went a bit better.  But I think he’s just being nice to me.😂 I had another opinion. But lets dive into this quest. This week it was time for me to make the cookies completely from scratch. It think the cookie dough was ok and it tasted yummy, but again the cookies were too hard for me. The core was slightly soft, but it tasted a bit of caramel.   I’m not fan of caramel as it sticks to the teeth. I think the taste was ok, but not amazing. My husband thought otherwise, but in this case he can’t be trusted. He’s biased, because he likes me.😋 The sight wasn’t so great either. Hopefully I can make things right with my cookies next week, the vegan ones. It’s my last chance to get them right, so the pressure is high. I used the recipe from this website, so I won’t display it, but you can check it here . I don't think it was the fault of the recipe, that it didn't go so well this time, now it's probably...

Learning to bake cookies challenge: The lazy ones

Image
This is part two of the four part-blogpost, you can check out the first part here . This week I made the lazy cookies. Sounds simple?...Guess again, I didn’t do so well this week. The apartment burned down….No just kidding. But it turns out, I’m not going to be queen of the kitchen just yet. I failed miserably at this challenge, even though it was just a baking mix. Lol, somehow I feel so embarrassed to write that... 😂My cookies were burned and hard as bricks. At least, it was a fun experience… The problem was the recipe on the back wasn’t entirely accurate.   At the end, they said to place the cookies in the oven for twelve minutes. I thought that was a bit long and placed the timer for eleven minutes. But apparently even that was too long. It needed nine to ten minutes tops, if I look at it afterwards. There were a few instances were I had to do something different, than what the recipe said. Another thing was they only asked to add 30ml/ 1fluid ounce of water. But you...

Learn how to bake cookies: the very lazy ones

Image
I’ve set a challenge for myself to learn how to make chocolate chip cookies. I’m going to split this up in four parts, as in a different kind every full week of this month:  -           Very lazy cookies -           Lazy cookies -           From scratch -           From scratch vegan This week I’m going to try the first one, the very lazy cookies. Which means from easy to hard. These posts aren’t sponsored, I’ve bought everything with my own money. I’ve bought premade cookie dough by the brand Herta and it was €3,99/$4,71. It’s the only brand I’ve found here in Belgium that sells it that way, there are probably more, but I do my groceries in smaller supermarkets. Unsurprisingly it was very easy to make... The instructions are placed in the back of the package. The challenge in photos: ...
