Waking Up With The Sunrise

 This week I’ve: -           Finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s stone in French. You can read all about it here . -           I worked a bit in my home and I shared my experience so far here .   Next week I’ll share my renovation story room by room. I’m hoping to finish some more reading, hopefully some classics. I also want to practice my French a bit more and maybe see the first Harry Potter movie in French. I also hope to go on a walk in nature with my hubby, somewhere remote considering the current lockdown rules.

  This month I’m hoping to accomplish the following:   -           Finish some reading: I’m hoping to read the 2 nd Harry Potter book in French. At least one story of my book The Completed works of Shakespeare (Probably Hamlet). I’m hoping to read more, but let’s start there. -           I want to do some more national traveling. The NMBS (Belgian railway company) gave away a free ticket with 10 single trips to use for every citizen, so I will definitely be using this. I’m not sure where we’ll be going yet. I’m going to use an app to randomly select a city or village. I'm going to get some options that are a bit more remote because of the lockdown rules. As it's best to avoid busy spots for now. -           For my French Goal: I want to focus on reading in French and hopefully watch something in French too. -           I’ve been organizing my appartment. I already placed the first post in this series here. But I’m going to post some updates on a room a week. -     

For a long time I’ve wondered what it meant to create a home. At first it felt like a dream that never was going to be accomplished. But then I met my husband. He showed me that feeling at home meant finding peace where you feel most comfortable. For me that meant being together with him and my son. I know I will always feel at home wherever they are. That doesn’t mean the process of creating a home is easy. For many it’s a journey of finding the perfect place and making it your own to share with your family. But along the way you’ll find many obstacles. At the Summer of 2018 me and my husband decided to find ourselves a home. When our first son passed away in April that year, we found it hard to call the apartment that we lived in, a home anymore. Not that it was bad living there, we just couldn’t bear our lost memories there, the memories that could never be, the ones taken away from us. We were ready to create a new home. Last month I did a buddy read with Jill from Mama Leest (Reading mom). I wanted to read the Harry Potter series in French. Why? I hear you thinking. I know, I already read it in my native language Dutch and also in English. I want to improve my French and a great way is to immerse myself in the language. I’ve already read The Little Prince in French. You can read my thought about that one here . The Little Prince is a children’s book, so since that went well, I wanted to do something just a bit harder. I thought I might be ready for Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers (Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone). I didn't think it was going to be as hard since I’ve already read it in two other languages. I already know what it says.
