Finishing my trip to Schilde, Belgium (Schilde part three of three)

Image
This time I went to finish my trip to Schilde. The last things to visit there, were a castle and a bunker. So I was very excited for this week. We were lucky with the weather. It didn't rain at all, although the weather forecast predicted rain for the day. Everything was located in a green area, so another relaxing trip. 😄 The castle itself wasn't accessible as there were people living there. So you might already think these people living in Schilde and 's Gravenwezel might be rich, well...you're absolutely right. It's definitely out of our budget to live here, as it's full of mansions and castles. We somehow felt extremely poor, walking through these streets.😂  We also came across an old bunker. It was build between 1909 and 1912 between two forts to defend the 'Turnhoutsebaan', which is a big street not so far from the building. Its located on a very small island surrounded by a small ditch/canal. It was used during the first World War to defend the ...

Visiting ‘s-Gravenwezel, Belgium (Schilde part two of three)

Last week I started the trip to Schilde in the Province of Antwerp. You can read all about it here . This week we started the second part of the trip, as the town is divided in two submunicipalities: Schilde and ‘s-Gravenwezel. We visited the other site of the town (‘s-Gravenwezel). There’s one castle there, but it wasn’t accessible, I had a feeling there were people living there as it was all closed off. There was lots of nature, but lots of places were hard to access for people   who are on foot. If you want to visit here by bike, that would probably be more enjoyable and safe. My journey in photos:                                                                                                             ...

Visiting Schildehof in Schilde, Belgium(Schilde part one of three)

There’s some national traveling on my bucket list and one of them is visiting all of the cities in the Province of Antwerp in Belgium.  Why traveling nationally? Well, with the current pandemic, it's probably safer to visit local towns and cities. But don't blindly follow me in doing this, I'm not a doctor and I don't know what the current situation is in your country right now. But if it's an option for you, then you'll find lots of hidden gems that way and it's often less crowded. Although we take every precaution when we go out, it feels a bit safer when you don't have to face big crowds.  As I didn’t know which city to take first, I made use of this website . It's a website you can use to randomly select items of a list.  Every time that I want to do some traveling, I will use this website and then I’ll prepare a visit to that place. That way it's a bit of an adventure.😊 This time it generated the town Schilde. The province of Antwerp has ...

Visiting the Zoo of Antwerp, Belgium

Image
Last week I visited the Zoo of Anwerp. I was able to do the trip very cheap because of a promotion. But with the pandemic there were some limitations. You had to make a reservation online and you could only stay for two hours. But I was glad that they’ve set these regulations in place as it made my visit really enjoyable and I felt safe the entire time. They made sure you could only follow one route so you wouldn’t pass too many people. Also because of the limited amount of people allowed in the park, I felt I could keep the 1,5m/4'11'' distance from everyone. So although I had to rush through the park a bit, I was able to enjoy my visit. Some nice highlights I saw Oooh, right in time for breakfast.😃 Lunch for me, nothing too fancy, but, yummy.😄 I was just too late with this picture. The penguin just jumped out of the water, he was fast.😮  It only were two hours, but it was lots of fun. They've been really working hard to create some bigger and more beautif...
