Blue Monday Update

This week I’ve: -           Finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s stone in French. You can read all about it here . -           I worked a bit in my home and I shared my experience so far here .   Next week I’ll share my renovation story room by room. I’m hoping to finish some more reading, hopefully some classics. I also want to practice my French a bit more and maybe see the first Harry Potter movie in French. I also hope to go on a walk in nature with my hubby, somewhere remote considering the current lockdown rules.

Monthly Goals December

This month I’m hoping to accomplish the following:   -           Finish some reading: I’m hoping to read the 2 nd Harry Potter book in French. At least one story of my book The Completed works of Shakespeare (Probably Hamlet). I’m hoping to read more, but let’s start there. -           I want to do some more national traveling. The NMBS (Belgian railway company) gave away a free ticket with 10 single trips to use for every citizen, so I will definitely be using this. I’m not sure where we’ll be going yet. I’m going to use an app to randomly select a city or village. I'm going to get some options that are a bit more remote because of the lockdown rules. As it's best to avoid busy spots for now. -           For my French Goal: I want to focus on reading in French and hopefully watch something in French too. -           I’ve been organizing my appartment. I already placed the first post in this series here. But I’m going to post some updates on a room a week. -

Creating a home chapter 1

Image
For a long time I’ve wondered what it meant to create a home. At first it felt like a dream that never was going to be accomplished. But then I met my husband. He showed me that feeling at home meant finding peace where you feel most comfortable. For me that meant being together with him and my son. I know I will always feel at home wherever they are. That doesn’t mean the process of creating a home is easy. For many it’s a journey of finding the perfect place and making it your own to share with your family. But along the way you’ll find many obstacles. At the Summer of 2018 me and my husband decided to find ourselves a home. When our first son passed away in April that year, we found it hard to call the apartment that we lived in, a home anymore. Not that it was bad living there, we just couldn’t bear our lost memories there, the memories that could never be, the ones taken away from us. We were ready to create a new home. We started looking for apartments in the neighborhood w

Reading Harry Potter in French part 1

Last month I did a buddy read with Jill from Mama Leest (Reading mom). I wanted to read the Harry Potter series in French. Why? I hear you thinking. I know, I already read it in my native language Dutch and also in English. I want to improve my French and a great way is to immerse myself in the language. I’ve already read The Little Prince in French. You can read my thought about that one here . The Little Prince is a children’s book, so since that went well, I wanted to do something just a bit harder. I thought I might be ready for Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers (Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone). I didn't think it was going to be as hard since I’ve already read it in two other languages. I already know what it says. It’s been a while though, since I’ve read the first one, so it's still a bit of a challenge. I told my friend I was interested in doing this, not actually meaning I wanted to do it now. But I guess I inspired her, because she bought the paperb

Blue monday update

Another busy week, another blue Monday. This was what I was able to accomplish this week. -           I wrote a book review about Mr. Bliss by Tolkien, you can read all about it here . -           I’ve read some other books too. I’m seeing some progress with Dune. But it’s been a long time since I’ve read these type of big books. So I takes me a bit longer to get through it. But so far so good. -           I’ve created a blogpost about Instagram for blogging newbies you can read all about it here . Since the Covid-19 infections are rising a lot here in Belgium, I didn’t go out this weekend, as it probably isn’t so safe. The government made some restrictions for bars and restaurants for a month, but they were placed in action today, which probably meant lots of people went out to have a drink or party last weekend. So we probably wouldn’t have felt so safe anyway. I used last weekend to organize a bit and to read. I’m collecting all the info and photos from this challenge, to

Instagram: 5 tips for blogging newbies

This is the third part in these series. I’ve written before about Pinterest and Goodreads . But since I think Instagram can be a fun social media platform when you’re a blogger. It’s great to post some fun photos connected to your blog or just some fun pics that you like to share with your followers. Since I haven’t used Instagram before, I had to go through some tutorials and the data from the help center from Instagram to get to know this social media platform. Recently, I’ve placed my first photos on Instagram, so I’m making progress. Let’s see what I’ve learned so far. ^_^ 1.        Follow people in your niche Try to follow interesting people within your niche and interact with them, when they post something you like. If you're into books, follow lots of bookstagrammers or when you like fashion follow famous fashionistas. Try to follow reachable influencers too, as you’ll probably will get more reactions from other followers when you react to a post from someone with 5

Book review Mr. Bliss by J.R.R. Tolkien

I haven’t read much from Tolkien yet. I saw the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, which made want to read his books. I’ve read one book from him so far, which also wasn’t in the Middle Earth universe, and that was The Story of Kullervo. It wasn’t really for me unfortunately. I found it hard to read about Kullervo, as it was such a dark character. For me a bit too dark, but I’m probably a bit of a sensitive soul, when it comes to these things. 😇 However, I liked this book, Mr. Bliss. It’s a children’s story, so no surprise there. 😂 I read it to my son. He didn’t understand much of it yet, but at least he liked the drawings, as he kept pointing at them or kept trying to grab the pages. I got this book from the library. And I’m not sure if every edition is like this, but I really liked this one. At one side, when you pointed the book vertically, it was the edited story.   Which means it held the drawings and the text was typed and placed nicely besides the drawings. But wh
